Many of us are familiar with the more traditional methods of seed starting using trays, heat mats, and lights, but what if we told you there is an easier way to germinate native plant (and other) seeds, while recycling plastic AND reducing the time and energy needed to grow as many plants as your little gardener’s heart desires? This winter sowing technique uses recycled transparent bottles to create small little greenhouses that you put outdoors and let Mother Nature do the stratifying for you! Our presentation will take you step-by-step through the technique, including tips based on our own experiences. You will leave with the knowledge to make a completed greenhouse setup on your own. We'll also go over other methods to sow native seeds, so bring your questions! Now is the perfect time to get your hands in a little dirt and get those seeds set up for success.
Blue Stem Natives is a women-owned native plant nursery and garden center in Norwell, MA, focused on increasing accessibility to and knowledge of the native plants of New England.
