Our annual Native Plant Sale is one of the largest and most eagerly anticipated events we run. The sale is powered by our staff and numerous dedicated volunteers who, along with many of those who come to shop, are brimming with enthusiasm for native plants and knowledge to share. Highlights of Our 2026 Sale
We sold 6,057 plants representing 173 native species. Highlights included Prunella vulgaris var. lanceolata (common self-heal), and local ecotype Sisyrinchium angustifolium (blue-eyed grass), both of which were grown specially for us by Van Berkum Nursery.
As part of our Pre-Sale for members, we sold 35 trees. Some popular species were Quercus montana (mountain chestnut oak), Salix discolor (pussy willow), and Carpinus caroliniana (American hornbeam).
Our 102 hard-working volunteers contributed over 750 hours of work— unloading wholesale orders; sorting, labeling and watering plants; helping customers with plant selection, and more.
Thank you to all of our members! More than 300 of you gave a membership gift in the two months leading up to the sale. This support, combined with general plant sale revenues, netted over $90,000 for our programs year-round.
After the sale, we donated our leftover plants (retail value of $2,500) to seven partner organizations around the state. Recipients included community-led native plantings in Wilmington, Taunton, and Somerville, MA.

Looking Ahead to 2027
We expect to have 6,000+ plants representing 150+ native species, including perennial wildflowers, ferns, grasses/ sedges, shrubs, and trees.

Our 2027 sale will be held at 7 Harrington Rd in Lexington, MA, on the property of First Parish Lexington.

You must register in advance to participate in our sale. Arrival times are staggered at 30 minute intervals to manage crowd flow, reduce wait times, and ease traffic in the parking lot.
The registration form will be sent out in our eNews during the week of April 26, with members getting advance access, and then posted to this webpage shortly after.

How do I check whether or not my membership with Grow Native Massachusetts is current? Email us.
I plan to sign up to shop on Friday, and would like to bring a friend. Does this person also need to be a member?
We hope that every person coming to shop on Friday will make a membership gift in support of this event!
I can't get there until Saturday afternoon. Will there be anything left?
Yes! We expect to have over 6,000 plants, including 100+ pots of some popular perennial species. While some species will inevitably sell out, Saturday shoppers will still see a great selection.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be no discount period at the end of this sale. Instead, we are delighted to be able to contribute our leftover native plants to partner organizations for their ecological restoration and community landscape projects. Thank you for understanding!
I would love to come to your sale but will be out of town at the end of May. Can you set aside plants for me?
Alas, no. This event is a major undertaking for our small organization and we don't have the capacity to reserve plants.
What forms of payment do you accept at the sale?
We take cash, check, and debit/credit/ Venmo at the sale. Those paying by cash or check will receive a 5% discount off of their total purchase. We prefer to receive payment by check, so please bring checks with you!
What sizes are the plants?
Our herbaceous plants come in 1 qt, 2 qt, #1, or True gal pots depending on the species. The majority are in #1 pots, which is the typical size found in retail garden centers. We will also have a small selection of plugs. Our trees and shrubs are in 1 or 2 gal pots and generally between 12 and 48 inches tall (again depending on species)—small enough to take home in your car.
How much do the plants cost?
Our perennials typically range from $14 to $22 depending on species and size; most are $16 or $18. Our shrubs and trees are primarily $28 to $42, more for some species. The full price list will be available at the sale—it is not finalized until all plants are delivered and priced, between 18 and 36 hours before shopping starts.
Are you offering pot recycling this year?
Yes! We’ve partnered with our friends at Van Berkum Nursery and East Jordan Plastics to collect, transport, and process garden plastic, which will be made into new garden containers. You can drop off your containers and trays in the back parking lot of 7 Harrington Road, Lexington, MA (see map). The drop-off will be open to the public until June 22; anyone who has signed up to shop at our sale in May can also drop off their garden plastic at that time. Details about future collections (likely after our annual plant sale in 2027) will be shared in our eNews and our plant sale page.
Note: please do not leave pots on site after June 22, 2026. They will not be recycled and repeat dumping may compromise our ability to run this program going forward.
